Introducing Mansion360 + A Double Dose Of Deadmau5

They did it for the club kids, really. After a two-week January hiatus, Miami’s beloved Mansion re-opened its doors. Details were mum on the club’s indefinite closing, but days after the announcement, Joel Zimmerman AKA deadmau5 agreed to introduce Mansion 2.0 – or Mansion360 as it’s been named – to the world.

Decked out in LEDs that could easily give LIV a run for its money (perhaps the point of the makeover), January 20 – 21, 2012 marked a milestone for the club, that has already tacked on seven great years of nightlife debauchery.
A swifter entry and a renovated main floor gave access to the regulars without shelling out loot for bottle service. But, those looking to make it rain on magnums were invited to enjoy the lightshow closer to the action up high, from an arena-style balcony and elevated soundsystems. Still, a limited amount of floor tables were up for grabs for the über deserved.

But, now let’s get down to the deadmau5 deets. Can someone please explain why a world-class DJ thinks it’s acceptable to duplicate an exact set? For those who were not in the know of deadmau5’s production strategy, the top DJ performed the same show (think touring Cirque du Soleil, minus the theatrics) two nights in a row. Granted, perhaps two nights of “Unhooked” left a hint in the name itself, but come on, Zimmerman. Burnt out are we? This was not the first time we’d heard of him pulling such staleness, perhaps that’s why he’s only scheduled a handful of tour dates through June 2012. Our advice? Get some new material…  A bit of Daft Punk here, a “Tiny Dancer” there, and a bunch of 4X4=12 laced throughout. Where was the shock value?

Luckily, Melodysiac was only onsite for the second night of the action, for a bevy of tweets and Saturday morning reviews ruined the playlist for us. At least we snapped some bitchin’ pictures to capture the big night…
